The Town of Mooresville operates two water treatment facilities providing service to customers in Mooresville, North Carolina. The original Water Treatment Plant (WTP #1) utilizes an earthen basin for storage of alum sludge.  The Plant was constructed in the 1960s and over time the basin had lost its shape and has become difficult to maintain.

The Town retained Willis Engineers to design improvements to the basin including reshaping the basin and lining it with concrete to facilitate washing and maintenance. The work also includes the installation of a water line and fire hydrant to provide wash down water for plant staff to hose down the basin. Construction of the project was completed in 2019 and has significantly improved operations.
