Customers in downtown Mocksville were provided water service by 4-inch water lines that were over 100 years old. The Town was concerned that, due to the location of the pipeline, the new streetscaping efforts in Court Square could be hindered by the aging utilities.  The pipe was made of cast iron, with lead joints and were difficult to repair.  Any disturbance would result in a major leak. The Town therefore saw it necessary to replace the aging pipeline to ensure continued reliable service to customers in the Court Square area of Mocksville.

Willis Engineers designed the replacement of approximately 1,200 feet of 6-inch and 8-inch ductile iron pipe water line, the associated valves and customer meters and service connections. The project was successfully completed in September 2017 and the streetscaping efforts are currently underway in Court Square.
