The Town of Waxhaw first constructed its downtown sewer system in the 1930s. The original facilities have reached the end of their useful life and in recent years have become problematic. The Town of Waxhaw and Union County hired Willis Engineers to replace this outdated sewer to restore reliability and provide capacity for future growth.
Willis Engineers designed approximately 900 feet of 8” and 10” sanitary sewer in the congested corridor on South Main Street. It provides service to approximately 20 commercial and residential customers in Waxhaw, as well as providing capacity for new businesses. Special care was needed to construct the new facilities without damaging historic buildings or interrupting regular business.
Construction for the project began in April 2017. The project is to be completed in August 2017 at a cost of approximately $400,000.
