Charlotte Water operates a fleet of vacuum sewer cleaning trucks to help maintain the wastewater facilities throughout their system.  The receiving facilities where the waste from the trucks were offloaded was unsafe and problematic.  Charlotte Water engaged Willis Engineers to design a new Vacuum Truck Receiving Station at the Field Operations Zone 4 facility off of Tyvola Road.  The new station consists of a concrete structure with a sump for new, more efficient, dewatering containers under a metal canopy  equipped with lights.  The project was completed in the summer of 2019.  Charlotte Water plans to use this facility as a prototype for additional stations throughout their system to further optimize their operations.
