The Water and Sewer Authority of Cabarrus County (WSACC) owns and operates wholesale wastewater conveyance systems serving the Town of Mt. Pleasant.  Collection of wastewater at the retail customer level is done by the Town, who discharges wastewater into the WSACC system.   Wastewater is pumped by WSACC through a series of force mains to a major interceptor where it is then conveyed to the Rocky River Regional WWTP for treatment.  Two of these pumping stations, Mt. Pleasant Pumping Stations #1 and #2, were constructed in 1982 and include pumping units housed in below ground steel structures.  Despite excellent maintenance practices, the buried equipment was nearing the end of its useful life and the WSACC staff needed to develop a plan for its replacement.

Willis Engineers assisted WSACC with the design, and construction phase services of the improvements including replacement of the below ground pumping equipment with submersible pumping units in new wet well structures, replacement of the auxiliary power generation equipment and complete upgrades to the electrical and control systems.
